Great Service
We needed a second car and was told that this was the best time to buy one since it was the end of the month and end of the year. We used a car buying service, which led us to Cloninger Ford, and Eric Smith. We've never had a good experience at dealerships and was expecting two battles; price negotiation and finance trying to sell you everything. We later learned that our experience could be nothing but good. We didn't know what to think of Eric at first but he turned out to be a great and professional sales consultant whose only concern was making you happy with your purchase.
Price negotiation: Eric asked the right questions and showed us a 2013 Ford Escape that turned out to be just the right fit for us.
Finance: Probably the best experience I've had, hands down. Fast in and out with no hassles. I had to wait a while but there were a few people that were in the same boat I was in.
If you want to make a purchase from Cloninger Ford of Hickory, NC, this is the place to go to since they price their stuff to move. In addition, Eric Smith is your guy should you come and visit with the intent of buying a Ford.

We were just looking when Eric came out and introduced himself. My first throught was OH LORD here he comes! But we found him to be very Considerate and Helpful,He ask question so he could find out what we were looking for and what we needed in a car.Never planed on trading,but with Eric's "LeRoy" help we desided it would be a good DEAL. We purchased a pre-owned Lincoln MKX from Dave Smith about 5 weeks ago. We were extremely pleased at the knowledge Dave had about this vehicle because the dealership had just recieved it the day before. The touch features of the dash were a little intemdating to me, but Dave spent time with us on the basics of what we needed to know and assured me a follow-up phone call with any questions would be answered promptly. The entire staff at Cloniger were helpful and courteous through the buying process. I was able to walk away knowing I had gotten fair trade value for my vehicle and new payments on the Lincoln that were well within my budget.The biggest thanks and highest praieses to Dave Smith for making my dreams of owning a Lincoln a reality.

Buying from out of town
Doing business with Cloninger Ford of Hickory was outstanding. I did the deal over the phone and was treated with the up most respect. I did not get hounded or tricked when I got there about the price we negotiated over the phone. All I did was test drive the vehicle and after that I ready to purchase my truck. I came in at 10am and need everything complete before my credit union was closed at 12pm. I was out the door by 12:15. That was including test drive and have papers faxed back and forth between my bank and the dealer. I went to a dealer before Cloninger Ford and they told me I would not get the same vehicle in that good of shape for that price, they were right I got a truck with less mile, more features, and better looking for a cheaper price.
Eric Smith was the best car salesman I ever dealt with. He made me feel like a person and not a number.
