2020 Ford F-150 vs 2019 Ford F-150: Specifications

Ford F-150 Towing The 2020 Ford F-150 and the 2019 Ford F-150 share many mechanical features, including engine lineups. In both trucks, you’ll have the good fortune to choose from a half-dozen engine options. Let’s look at some highlights:

  • 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost®, for off-roading muscle (450 horsepower)
  • 3.5L EcoBoost®, for the best max towing capacity (13,200 pounds)
  • 3.0L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel, for incredible efficiency (EPA-estimated 29 highway MPG)

Keep in mind, though, that the newer 2020 F-150 has somewhat different powertrain combos. It mates every engine—except the base 3.3L V6—with a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission and makes more engines available on lower trim levels.

While the 2019 F-150 offers all the same parts, that 10-speed transmission and more advanced engines are a bit more restricted in terms of availability.

Ford F-150 Trim Levels: No Changes for 2020

Ford F-150 Raptor Trim levels often change between model years, but the Ford F-150 stays consistent from 2019 to 2020. If you shop either model year, you’ll find seven trim levels to choose from: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor.

The XL and XLT are workhorses, though the XLT adds key infotainment features into the mix. These trims are the only ones available with all three cabs and all three bed lengths. The F-150 Raptor, meanwhile, is geared toward off-road enthusiasts who want to test this truck’s limits.

The other four trim levels become progressively more luxurious as you move up the lineup. Find inspired Southwestern style in the King Ranch and premium amenities in the Limited. With real leather seats and a twin panel moonroof, you’ll be driving in the lap of luxury!
