2023 Ford Escape

The entry-level Escape S comes with 17-inch steel wheels, with the SE adding 17-inch alloy wheels and keyless entry. Step up to the SEL for 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, roof rails, and fog lights. This trim also offers several packages with added features such as a hands-free liftgate and a panoramic sunroof. The Stealth AWD package has 19-inch black-painted wheels and black exterior trim elements. If you bump up to the top-level Platinum trim, it comes standard with the 19-inch wheels, adds LED fog lights, and offers the option for the panoramic sunroof.

The base engine for the Escape is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo gas engine that delivers 181 horsepower. The Titanium trim comes with a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that puts out 200 horsepower, which is optional for the SE and SEL. The gas engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid gets a CVT. An optional 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine is optional and delivers 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

The Escape's 1.3-liter gas engine is quick and responsive with a zero-to-60 time of 8.4 seconds. The larger turbo four provides extra acceleration and passing power. When equipped with this engine and the tow package, the Escape can pull up to 3,500 pounds.

The Escape has room for five passengers. In the back, it has a 33.5-foot cargo area, which expands to over 65 cubic feet with the rear seats down. Cloth upholstery comes standard in the lower trims, with leather added to the Titanium trim with the Elite package. Heated front seats come standard in the SEL, which also has a heated steering wheel and automatic climate control.

Technology features in the Escape SE and above include an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. SYNC 3 also comes in the SE and above with Ford+ Alexa and WAZE. The Technology Package for the SEL adds a wireless charging pad and a 10-speaker Banf & Olufsen stereo system.

Every Ford Escape comes standard with a blind-spot monitor, lane-departure warning with mitigation to keep you in your lane, and a forward-collision warning system with automatic braking. The Co-Pilot360 Assist+ Package is optional for the SE and adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and evasive steering assist. Rear parking sensors come in the SEL, and the Titanium adds rear parking sensors and an automated parking system. Adding the Titanium Elite Package gets you a head-up display.
