2020 Explorer: Performance Specs

Ford Explorer PerformanceThe 2020 Explorer steps onto the scene with many changes to the powertrain(s). While Intelligent 4WD is still available for extra traction, the Explorer now comes standard with rear-wheel drive. It’s a change from the previous front-wheel setup and means sportier driving for you.

The Terrain Management System™ makes off-roading easier than ever. Choose from seven Selectable Drive Modes and tailor your drive for the trails, deep sand, or slippery surfaces. Plus, an eco mode will help you drive more efficiently.

The trio of potent engines includes a 400-horsepower EcoBoost® V6 and, for the first time ever, a Hybrid V6. Give your Explorer the breakout power or fuel efficiency you’ve been craving!

Interior: Spacious Seating for Seven

Ford Explorer Cabin

Slide into the Ford Explorer, and you’ll never want to leave. This Ford SUV serves up cabin comfort like never before with Multicontour Seats with Active Motion®. These available seats make driving more relaxing with five massage settings. Prevent fatigue and stay fresh as you drive!

With three rows of seats, the Explorer can swallow up seven passengers—six with the standard captain’s chairs. Average-sized adults can sit comfortably in the rear, as the second and third rows offer 39 inches and 32.2 inches of legroom, respectively.

Need to make more room for cargo? Available PowerFold® third-row seats fold down and out of the way at the push of a button. Find the perfect people-to-cargo ratio quicker than ever.

SUV Technology in the Modern Age

Ford Explorer Technology For 2020, the Explorer sees a fully updated technology suite. It looks and feels more connected, and that SYNC® 3 interface plays an outsized role—literally. While the standard 8-inch touchscreen is worth a look, it’s the available 10.1-inch portrait touchscreen that really stuns.

Its vertical orientation makes it look like a modern tablet, one you could detach and take with you when you leave the vehicle! (In reality, you can’t—it’s secured in place.) Use it just like your smartphone to call friends, play music, or queue up directions to your destination.

In addition, the instrument gauges go digital in the Explorer ST and Platinum. Customize the look and function of the most essential driving information from a 12.3-inch screen behind the steering wheel.
