1. History Museum of Catawba County

This fascinating local history museum is the perfect place to learn more about Catawba County. Whether you grew up in this woodland community, are starting a new life here, or are just on vacation, you will learn a lot by visiting this local spot. You can learn about the early European settlers who lived in this land and began to build furniture and textiles from the resources that surrounded them.

You’ll see tons of the furniture that was built during this time, a collection of artifacts from the Revolutionary War, and so much more. If you’re a local history nerd, this museum needs to be on your list!

2. Hickory Museum of Art

This incredible art museum is a great place to spend the day if you’re a student, on a date, or with the family for a weekend outing. There’s always a cool exhibition going on, like the Works by Warhol show displaying a wide selection of his incredible pop art.

This museum is kid-friendly too! Starting May 8th 2021, the Junior HMA exhibition will open. This kid-friendly display will feature hands-on elements with every visual art piece so kids and adults can closely interact with art in new ways.

3. Catawba Science Center

Another kid-friendly spot is the Catawba Science Center. This is a great place for field trips, weekend getaways, and education even for adults! Don’t worry, at the Catawba Science Center, learning is always paired with fun. Visit the Planetarium to learn about the universe. Take on a challenge at the Gross Labs, where you get to interact with science. Stop by the aquarium to learn about your aquatic friends. 4. Hickory Aviation Museum

If you want to learn everything there is to know about airplanes and their history, then you’ve got to come to the Hickory Aviation Museum. The expert staff constantly update their exhibits with new planes to look at and learn about. They have tons of combat aircraft used by the military that you can observe and learn more about.
